VERTHEIN - PART ONE
http://www.wolvesau.net/wh/fantasy/viewtopic.php?t=9

Between June 1st and 4th, 2503, between Averheim and Affelbach
By the mid-afternoon of the first day, the sun began to have an effect on Athaeis, being an Elf used to the cool woods of the World's Edge Mountains, and not the plains; drinking more water she found herself feeling better.  Five wagons, one-hundred-fifty men -fifty with horses-, fourteen mules pulling two of the wagons, twenty-one draft horses pulling two of the wagons, Faerod's draft horse, Captain Berenkov's and Count von Griebenheim's war horses, and close to twenty adventurers set out strongly to towards the completion of their mission, to satiate the Dauphin of Bretonnia, and investigate the reason for the disturbances in the Grey Mountains.  Lanis Fritzwold, completely new to a journey such as this, let alone any adventuring at all, attempted to make himself comfortable, to no avail, while one of the Count's soldiers attempted to aid and console him.  Faerod, becoming restless, spoke with Captain Berenkov and began his rounds as an Outrider, with only the request that he point out a general direction of scouting to the Captain so he would not be fired on by the Captain's men in case of trouble.
Cruor Draig, not only an Apprentice Wizard, but also a story teller of some skill, begins telling stories to all in the caravan that will listen, which draw the interest of those around him.  Meanwhile, the natural rivalry between Smarty and Athaeis, Dwarf and Elf, began to come to the front while Lanis and Cruor worked for peace between the two.  Eventually, however, both made a pact to try setting aside their hostilities so they might work together; after all, genetic hatred is not easy to overcome.
By the evening of June 3rd storm clouds had rolled in and caused all in the caravan to be soaked to the bones, just before arriving at Affelbach, where an inn was able to take the adventurers and the diplomatic party.  The remainder of the caravan set up their tent city outside in an open field, and happy for the rest began to sing and make merry, with Smarty joining them for the evening, having purchased six bottles of ale to share with soldiers.
Midway through the morning of June 4th, however, while rain clouds continued to loom, the carvan came under attack, Faerod's Sixth Sense going crazy as he penetrated the woods and tall grasses beyond Affelbach to explore for any potential disturbance.  Claudia's player joined us at this time, and I noted Claudia had been with the original band, at the party in Averheim, but in the background, with Claudia bursting from the tall grasses and running into Smarty, tripping over the Dwarf.  Spotting Greenskins in the tall grass beyond the caravan, Faerod, Lanis, and some soldiers of the caravan cry out their spotting, then Athaeis and the rest begin the hunt to kill them.  Though Faerod took over nine wounds of damage -alternate damage allocation rules- to his head, right and left arms, the band of adventurers won the day and began healing their wounds.

VERTHEIN - PART TWO

Between June 4th and 6th, 2503, between Affelbach and Verthein
On conclusion of the fight and investigation of the area, some maps and what appears to be some manner of journal are found close to the large oak tree by which the fight began, although all are in the Orc language.  Among the affects are several detailed maps of this area of the Empire, including a route which leads to the Grey Mountains, and over, where they meet the southern-most trees of Loren Forest.  The maps have many writings on it in Orcish which no one in the caravan understands, but Captain Berenkov, upon viewing the maps, remarks that the markings seem to be directions pointing to various spots where armies might stage and outposts could be established.  In accordance with an agreement between himself and the Count, Lanis begins learning how to use Black Powder Pistols, as his brother used while he was a Knight in service to the Empire.
Within a few hours of the caravan resuming its' course, at Captain Berenkov's behest, there is no stop until a clearing is found.  A road-bound farm presented itself, and the Captain decided to move and inspect the farm, ask the family living there if some of their land could be used for the night.  Unfortunately, within fifty feet of the home he stopped and pulled his sword, the Count requesting the adventurers to approach and help the Captain out.  Approaching quietly, much of the group worked up to the doors of the home and awaited the Captain's signal to enter, while Athaeis and Faerod watched the perimeter and surrounding areas of the farm.  Although Smarty gets set to bust in the door, the Captain decides to stop him by busting in before him.
Count von Griebenheim convinces Lanis to document what he has seen for the sake of the Dauphin's knowledge, then moves into the farm house to see what has transpired for himself.  As many of those who entered the house continue to investigate, voices are heard coming from a cabinet in the dining room and, when Cruor goes to open the doors, they burst open, releasing two children, who attempt to run away while screaming.  Claudia Helzberg, a Human female Tomb Robber hired in Averheim to assist in identifying unusual things on the journey and assisting with any transactions for supplies and sundries, takes the children to clean them up, make them safe, feed them, and attempt to figure out what happened at the farm.
Smarty and Faerod are sent to investigate mysterious muddy tracks leaving the farm house, and it appeared whatever was in the home decided to use a bedroom wall as its exit.  Captain Berenkov immediately sent Smarty, Faerod, and Athaeis to investigate the tracks further.  Claudia promised to introduce the children, Rene (the boy) and Bren (the girl), to Smarty and Athaeis later, when they returned; for those not in the know, Smarty and I were playing off the ancient Dwarf/Elf hatred, and very well at that, so Smarty was, at least, in a surly mood.  After two hours of searching for the creature, Athaeis talked the party into returning to the caravan, while Captain Berenkov worked to convince the Count the caravan should stop at the farm for the night, bed down, and continue in the morning.  At the suggestion of the Count to send out a larger party, the Captain convinced him it wouldn't be a good idea, as they would all be dead in the morning if more went out.
Karl Pflanzenfressend -an Herbalist and Physician's Assistant-, joined the caravan at this point in the game as one hired on to assist Herr Doktor Braun with healing duties in the caravan.  As the caravan continued to move, sleep and nerves being at a premium, the entourage eventually came to a series of farm clearings to the outskirts of Verthein; all empty for some time, although not long enough for the crops to go fallow. NOTE: For those wondering about crops coming in just after a long winter, don't bawk until you've ready about agriculture around the world..
VERTHEIN - PART THREE

June 6th and 7th, 2503
Claudia's concern for Rene and Bren made her very protective of them while traveling, so she kept them close; in order to get them to break out of their fog and dismay, she employed 'Uncle Smarty', who managed to have his beard pulled several times in the process.  Having faced several days on the dusty road to Verthein, the characters were appreciative to take their ease with the townsfolk who, in turn, were very grateful these Imperials have shown up to fight the evil that haunts Verthein.  The characters and soldiers being accosted quite a lot, Captain Berenkov sends soldiers to ascertain the troubles of the town, to determine if they will have to prepare for a fight with greenskins again or not, while Cruor gains permission to obtain help from the townsfolk to build a wall and oil trough around the town for more protection.
Ascertaining the threat against the town to be a greenskin incursion, Count von Griebenheim and Captain Berenkov gathered the adventurers to form a scouting party to find any sign of their whereabouts, placing Faerod in charge.  Cruor, in his search to find townsfolk willing to rebuild the walls and dig oil troughs, finds instead complacency and fear, an unwillingness to try again.  Karl, in anticipation of casualties from the ensuing battle with Orcs, accosts and gains the permission of Count von Griebenheim and Herr Doktor Braun to form a nursing corps and attempt to set a hospital, and is wildly successful.  The scouting party spends several hours among the tall grasses, seeking sign of greenskins and, close to dusk they do, indeed, find what they're looking for.  An Orc horn sounds, Athaeis kills the Orc, another rises to do her in and Faerod kills it, then more horns blow, and the rumble and shake of battle formations against the ground disrupt an otherwise quiet evening.  The scouting party runs back to the battle lines, Lanis almost caught by a very hungry troll, and the battle is on.
Within the first seconds of the combat, the Count's forces fired hundreds of arrows to bring down many opponents, few of which remained down, instead rising to come and kill their foe.  Meanwhile, our heroes moved into the fray and began to put the horde in their place.  Soon, however, the battle turns slightly and Athaeis, Claudia and Cruor all take shots from their own foes, knocking Athaeis unconscious and Cruor to the ground, as other Orcs use the confusion to slip past the forward line of battle and into Verthein.  However, even as the greenskins get in their few licks on the adventurers and the Count's Men, they are nearly broken and many turn to leave the field.  Lanis, ever the hero, attempts to wake Athaeis by pulling her from the berm in the direction of friendly lines.  Meanwhile, Smarty the crazed Troll Slayer moves in after the Troll that has just crested the hill, while screaming his lungs out, making the Troll notice him, bringing the two in contact and ready to connect.
The battle ended, and Smarty's axe, Junior, destroyed in the chest of the Troll, the process of bandaging wounds begins, the townsfolk again grateful for the sacrifice of the Count's Men and these adventurers.  During the course of the evening and into the night, Smarty seeks and builds a new Junior, asking someone to carve his axe handle for him, while Cruor seeks to improve his magic stock, having to endure the emotions of two of the townsfolk while they open the Magic Shop again.
NULN - JUNE 7TH TO THE 11TH
http://www.wolvesau.net/wh/fantasy/viewtopic.php?t=25

Selenelise Trellmyst prepared to join our group in Nuln.  Athaeis, remembering the strike competition in Nuln, begins to practice and is very excited, more than perhaps an Elf should be, to participate in the tournament.  Once in Nuln, Lanis requests Athaeis go with him to retrieve his brother Morgan's things from a Barrister in the Countess' outer courts, and she agrees if he will go with her to register for the tourney.  Smarty met with Forgehammer and his wife to discuss Smarty's disavowment in the Dwarven community at Karak-Narn, and Forgehammer revealed the Prince's assassin to be in Nuln.  He agreed to go with Smarty to find and vanquish this enemy to restore Smarty's honor, but it would be at the right time.  Much of the remainder of this chapter in our story concentrated on each character being made comfortable, and finding food, drink, and perhaps one of Nuln's legendary parties, to go to; otherwise, no business was able to be manifested.
