OOC Thread: A Small Task for Radagast

Welcome to Middle Earth.

All current role-playing will take place, here; record or post links to your die rolls, as well as anything you feel is relevant to playing your character in our present adventure, for ease of reference. All current Out-of-Character (OOC) discussions should take place here, as well, such as Fellowship/ Company planning. Please, keep your die rolls and short OOC notes in the main game thread; you may even use an OOC note to point to a topic (insert a URL into your post) or post elsewhere in this forum, as long as it is relevant to the on-going game.

Old adventures and OOC posts will go into the proper forum category area once the new adventure and OOC thread have been established. OOC threads MAY carry over to more adventures if I deem there is not enough in the current thread to separate it from a new OOC thread.

OOC Thread: A Small Task for Radagast

Unread post by Fieranor of Imladris » 01 Jul 2019, 11:01

My friends... I find that, in our game, here, I am running into a great deal of lack of knowledge concerning how to play this game, especially from those who have been in the game the longest. Before you begin role-playing in the new thread, I am going to ask you to read, or re-read, my primmer on Rolling Dice. You can find the link to this, and other important things, in my Signature Block below every single one of my posts; all of those links are important... please review them, again?

Here is the link to the article for... Rolling Dice. Once you've read at least the first post, there, please return here and let me know you've read it? Thank you.

Just to be sure I'm up to speed...we're all now in Gandalf's house, and just joined by a snow covered Radagast?

I didn't even know Gandalf HAD a house!

Yeah, he offered his house here in Dale so everyone could Winter in a good spot during the First Gathering of the Five Armies. I would be willing to bet Gandalf has a lot of places he can call home... does he just live in nature 100% of the time? What happens when HE has to rest, hehe. I would also suspect that he has many of those places so those on tasks for him have a place to go, if the task intersects with an abode of his.

So, I assume this is on or after the date we agreed to meet again in spring? Just trying to make sure that Frerin would already be back from Erebor despite the land apparently still being firmly in Winter's grasp.

No, this is preliminary to that. I'll be getting everyone back together shortly...

Okay, fair enough, then I'll stay out of it for now!

Harald... I hadn't thought about it, but the introduction in the new Adventure thread Bryce just made was particularly well-done, and I invite anyone else who would comment as such to do so. Bryce, thank you.

This one is all off the cuff. I've run something LIKE it, before, and I know ONE waypoint and the outcome I would like to see; otherwise, it's all going to be original. This is the way I like to do things, but I have to also be careful to ensure I echo the Professor as much as possible in the writings; it's not that this world of The One Ring will fall apart if I don't adapt my work into his words, or a semblance of his writings, but it helps break immersion if the language of the world is not used. Professor Tolkien wrote against most, if not all, literary rules and I'm wondering if that was not a result of the variances between Literary and Language factions at Oxford, and he wrote from his heart, from his mind, and for the languages he had invented, as a Poet, and I want to make sure I do the same as much as possible.
