OOC Thread: Dragontide & The First Gathering of the Five Armies

Welcome to Middle Earth.

All current role-playing will take place, here; record or post links to your die rolls, as well as anything you feel is relevant to playing your character in our present adventure, for ease of reference. All current Out-of-Character (OOC) discussions should take place here, as well, such as Fellowship/ Company planning. Please, keep your die rolls and short OOC notes in the main game thread; you may even use an OOC note to point to a topic (insert a URL into your post) or post elsewhere in this forum, as long as it is relevant to the on-going game.

Old adventures and OOC posts will go into the proper forum category area once the new adventure and OOC thread have been established. OOC threads MAY carry over to more adventures if I deem there is not enough in the current thread to separate it from a new OOC thread.

Hehe, I know... my own limitation got me the other day, too. I have my reasons, however, LOL.

Alright, I promised I would eventually write up a paper about how the Experience system in our game of The One Ring works, and I finally got it done. For those of you who are even remotely interested, you can download and read it, here. I welcome any feedback you may have, and I do intend to restructure my formula's to better account for XP that has been earned in the game. Look out, folks, you might have more XP coming to you... :D

And from the 10 character minimum to my most recent post!

Apologies that a number of my posts are very long, I find myself very passionate with this character and story and I find myself writing maybe more than others. I hope this is not seen as a bad thing or that I am trying to "one up" any of you. You all have fascinating additions to the ongoing tale and I enjoy being apart of it.

Don't you DARE apologize for writing your heart on these pages!!! We may not all read everything you, or anyone else, always writes and the good Lord knows I can write reams of pages, but when each of you writes and adds something good to this story we have shared for the past four-plus years, you honor all of us with your words. I don't know about you, but I don't think any of us would have it any other way. :D

My friends, the afternoon grows late, the shadows on Earth long, and I will have to wait to compose the latest post until later, this evening. I love the writing all of you do, haphazard and incomplete or jubilant and thought-filled, so please feel free to put all the writing you desire in these forums. They will be preserved as much as I possibly can; I back up the database once per month, typically, though after five years I prune old files out, and I can, at least to the best of my knowledge, always reconstruct the phpBB bulletin board to get the information back, should I need to. Indeed, I have all versions of phpBB from 2.0.7 to present; that's versions of the software from 2003 to now.

Later, my friends.

I'm going to tell you all this before I forget, even though the day is not until tomorrow, but for you Father's out there, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! :D

Bryce, the poem you wrote in your most recent post, that feels original to me; did you write that?

It is a song that I have made minor changes to, the original is a piece created by the most fantastic of gaming composers, Jeremy Soule for Guild Wars 2. The lyrics are sung by a Serbian artist called Asja Kadrić.

I do not like to copy songs exactly, so I make changes but keep the original flow as I find these tunes really relatable to Middle Earth and I like to introduce these pieces into the universe.

That is some absolutely beautiful music.

I believe there was a historical point, perhaps a few, where Europe and, individually, the UK went through stage(s) of turmoil that changed the social fabric forever, though a great many of the traditions and love came through unscathed, or changed in only minor ways. Today, because of those changing times, untold beauty comes out of these nations, again, songs with lyrics and music so beautiful as to be haunting. I hope that for my nation, again, as it is in serious upheaval right now.

Thank you for sharing that beautiful song, Bryce.
