the Eagle (Ellisidil) of Wilderland - Dan F

If you have a character in our game, you will find their journal in this area, as well as some stickied threads near the top of the list for songs and stories. As well Player-heroes (PHs), as they are called in The One Ring, have some basic information here concerning how to build them. A journal means you have the opportunity to develop your character's depth to help you be able to get into them, even in a slow-flow forum-based setting such as our game. Have fun with it... using your journal and helping the group with songs may even lead you to gaining experience for posting about them.

Dan, I am so very sorry if I missed you, this morning. The VA took forever, it was almost 9 before I had my appointment, a half-hour late, and then I tried to get into the sick call and it took them nearly an hour to figure out I wouldn't be able to see anyone, there, and then they offered me my own Doctor, who is a moron of massive proportions, but told me I would be waiting into the early afternoon. I just came home after that.

I can't believe how long I've been sick, this week, and I'm still pretty weak... but, I can't postpone the game any longer...

You can learn some basics about the sword, that it was awarded to a loyal Éothéod family long before the time of Eorl the Young. That much I've told you, before. You can describe what you already know to Munin and/or one of his helpers and they can point you in the right direction, where you can find out that the family was alive around two-centuries prior to Eorl the Young, leaving the Northern Anduin Vales to fight with the folk of Gondor. Twenty-four such swords were made by the King of that time, Énthelás, after a massive campaign in which close to five-hundred of the Éothéod died defending their lands from the Goblin lair of Mount Gundabad. The Men and Women whom had distinguished themselves were named Protectors of the lands of the Éothéod, given border-lands to continue protecting the main lands, and awarded both a Sword and a Shield with the Lion's head of the heraldry of Énthelás' family. This makes the sword more than six centuries old. The family awarded is not recorded; many names and family histories before T.A. 2600 are not accounted outside of the Elves, only great battles and deeds. You find nothing, therefore, concerning any great deeds of the sword and/or shield from that point forward.

You already know, as well, the craftsmanship of the blade and shield equals that of the Dwarves of the present age, though that's not saying much since a great deal of the knowledge of making things has been lost in the past twenty centuries.

Paul, after finally looking at a map, finding out where Gundabad was. I might find out more information around the area that I am from, correct? There should be something more there or with the people and historians of Rohan? Now, I have a question...If I were to travel there, would I run into Aragorn? This is about the time frame that he rode with them and fought with Gondor and traveled throughout the South, Is it not?
Next question, and I am asking because I am not sure about the place that we may be headed, is where we are headed to between Erabor and the Withered Heath, or will it be between Erabor and the Iron Hills or kind of in between both? Since I am finally looking at a map of the entirety

Honestly, I'm not certain what you're asking, Dan. Gundabad and Rhosgobel are not even remotely close together; take a look at the map I've provided. Rhosgobel is in the South-east of that map, and Gundabad to the North-west. History of Rohan? I think you would have to go to Rohan for that, and it is WAYYY to the South. Historically, for your own use, since no one knows about Aragorn, yes you would likely run into a young Aragorn, though you would never know it; he was a soldier in Thengel's army, under another assumed name, and was not yet the rugged individual who eventually become the next King of Men.

According to any maps you have been able to see, yes. The Western end of the Withered Heath, where it joins the Grey Mountains, is North and a little West of ErEbor, and the Wastes are immediately between Erebor and the Heath.

Thanks, I believe you answered at least one question, and I wouldn't have known it was Aragorn, I just wanted to know. I know that the people of Rohan are way to the South of where we are now. Just asking for my own purposes. Also somewhere in the area between the two of those some where could there be records? I know that these alliances were formed early in the 3rd age, and I am wondering who I would ask, while doing my thing for the eagles, to find out information about who the sword and shield might have belonged to and then travel to Rohan to ask even more questions? Could that be a separate quest? or did I overshoot something

Nah, you didn't overshoot ANYTHING, but that kind of quest would be like the one Aragorn and Gandalf took to capture Gollum the first time, hehe... very long. :)

Now one other question, Since this is about that time, after Aragorn does service with Rohan and Gondor during the time we are in now....He takes off after Gondor and "learns the hearts of men" in the South, do you know of any maps that can be looked at on what he may have been to during that time?

I'm afraid I'm still learning about all of that stuff, right now. I have a massive map of the Gondor/Mordor area, but they don't have the detail of the map I'm working on, now, for Wilderland/Rhovanion. I won't get to those maps for some time. Also, even with the Horse-lords of Rohan book, there's not a whole lot of information, and NONE on Elessar/Aragorn. Sorry.

If I needed some search or other rolls, I have been playing in roll 20 and got a couple of good ones

No, my friend, this doesn't have to do with die rolls... you've all done the most research you can to find all but what Munin's Chamber of Mazarbul does not have. Sorry.

Actually, Dan, that looks pretty good. If you would prefer, just clean up that post a little bit and get rid of the reference to me and I can move it to the main thread. Or, you could just copy it. If you don't think it's quite ready, yet, that's fine, too, work on it a bit longer. I am hoping, however, to move things along pretty soon. :)
