I have to be totally honest with you that I've spent quite a lot of time on the new FASA Games forums, talking back and forth with various members, including playtesters, and the developers, themselves, up until about two months ago, and I am so far removed from this new edition I can't even see it as an improvement. The ONLY reason this edition was made was so the new authors could tweak it to be what they want it to be; it's not an actual change of anything that was bad for anything better. 1st Edition remains the best, while Classic is a very close second, and includes all of the material, very little of which was tweaked for Classic, from 1st Edition. Were I to ever run the game, I think I would go primarily with Classic.

All you have is my word to go off of, though. As much as I would love to play, or even run this game, again, I'm afraid it wouldn't meet a favorable audience with our present group. Our group seems too enamored of Warhammer Fantasy to try anything out, so despite my desires, that's what I'll continue to run.

Back soon.

If you're truly curious, though, the PDF is only $22.49, right now...

Oh. .. I want posting to try and sway the audience. I just thought it was a nice bit of news. I will wait on the rules as there are other things to spend money on at the moment

Gavin and I went out for milk a few minutes ago, and I was trying to remember some of the things I'd heard...

Durability has been changed into something unrecognizable...

The step system has had its dice changed for the steps, unnecessarily.

The Defenses used to be Mystic, Social, and Physical, right, and then there was Physical Armor and Mystic Armor. Now, the Defenses are one large pool.

Magic was supposed to have been simplified, but from everything I've read, it's actually more difficult. Many of the talents have been moved around between and within their Disciplines, in accordance with what the new writers want to see, without a total due diligence into the effects they may have on other Disciplines, Skills, and Talents, etc., as was done with the first game. This just basically rearranges things to be what they want it to be.

Character Generation Silver has been moved from 20 Silver to 100, and you get not only your Traveling Garb, but also your Basic Kit and your weapons for free to start out with.

So, in essence, what you have is a Dark-High-Magic-Post-Apocalyptic Fantasy World that is no longer Post-Apocalyptic.

That's all I can remember, right now.
