Background:      Claudia was born and bred in the city of Nuln. Her childhood was an ordinary one and life did not hold much excitement for her until she reached the age of 17. She was one of four children and was the second oldest. Her three brothers had all found work in a variety of different honest professions within the city. However, Claudia was not enthusiastic about becoming a servant, or a general dogs body, which is where other girls her age were destined to end up. She wanted something a little more exciting and something that involved acquiring wealth. From an early age Claudia was interested in sparkly and pretty things. She would often wear her mother’s jewelry, not that it was expensive. On many occasions she took the jewelry to local traders and tried to sell the trinkets.
Claudia tried her hand at lots of different professions and did not like any of them. She came to work for Vincent Van Gard (Vince as he liked to be called). Although the work was not riveting she found it more bearable than her previous employments. Vincent owned an antiques business and would often bring rare and expensive items into the shop. Claudia would often wonder where his new stock came from as she rarely saw Vince buying anything from customers off the street. On a regular basis Vince would arrange business trips to other cities across the Empire and would return with a raft of new antiquities. While Vince was on these trips Claudia would run her own scams and increase the prices of goods by the odd gold coin and pocket any proceeds.
Claudia always thought it odd why Vince would need a crowbar and a shovel on his business trips. Over time she became more and more suspicious about his source of supply and decided to find out the truth. One afternoon Vince had loaded his wagon and was setting off. When he was distracted she hid in the back of the wagon under some blankets, like a stowaway on a boat. After hours of traveling Vincent stopped at the foot of some hills and started to unload his crowbar and shovel. It was then he discovered Claudia had secretly joined him on his journey. After a heated discussion Vince told Claudia how he came about his stock. Vince was a skilled Tomb Robber and had used his antiques shop as a cover to sell the items he obtained. Claudia was bubbling with excitement and demanded that Vince teach her how to become a tomb robber. At first Vince flatly declined and said it was not an option, but as the discussion continued he thought that having an assistant would be a good idea. Over the next couple of years Claudia also attended the business trips. She learnt many interesting skills and abilities, which made her a valuable asset to Vince’s business.
