DUTIES: The Commanding Officer is responsible for the continued and present running of Armageddon Unlimited, including recruitment, training, and fielding battles. The CO is able to delegate authority to others for the sake of easing their burden, although they must remain available as often as Real Life allows in order to compete in the leagues/games chosen to be in.
BATTLETECH/MECHWARRIOR PRIOR UNITS AND RANKS
Noted Wolf Unit Service: I recruited Ranger (now LightScout) as the first Armageddon Unlimited member back toward the middle of 1998, only a few weeks after I started this unit on-line. Between October, 1998 and October 22, 1999, Jerry, Spike and I built this unit from the ground up. We had a LOT of help from the average of 35 players we had recruited together and the unit was proving to be better for our participation, both in and out of games, than anything any of us had hoped for. Colonel LightScout has remained an ardent supporter of this unit, even in times when he was unable to be active, and of me directly ever since AUs inception and I am certain I can always count on that support. Despite many problems in our friendship, Jerry has always managed to keep in touch and singlehandedly kept our friendship from dying the many painful deaths I would have put it through by now.

FURTHER NOTES: Having fought alongside Ranger in several on-line battles in MechWarrior 3 I know he is a cool customer with an excellent head for tactics. He managed to pull my bacon out a couple of times, until I jumped back into the frying pan, anyway. Were Ranger/LightScout to be on the battlefield with me for any game, I would nearly demand he take the lead of the unit to delegate positions for each individual MechWarrior so we could win. Although I may be better in strategy and logistics, LightScout has displayed the ability to see the battlefield as a whole and make the parts move so our team could control that field.
(9/'67; 9/'07) Initially, when Ranger joined Armageddon Unlimited, I saw him as only a way to get an Executive Officer for this unit, someone to help me recruit, train, and put into battle people who would become part of AU. However, since that time, he and I have become friends, and I see him as far more than a capable XO, I see him as the cool customer and other half of not only a friendship but of a proper para-military unit equation that I am not. He has earned the right to be and is every bit my equal; were this not my unit since 1984/5, I would likely be serving under his command rather than vice-versa.
LightScout is in command of Armageddon Unlimited BattleTech Online as of 091507 / '67 and I will serve as second in command in on-line gaming. The role-playing portion of Armageddon Unlimited will remain under my command with Jerry as my Exec; if there's to be any role-playing at all.
