101107 / '67: Soon we will begin playing in the BattleTech-Mercenaries Play-by-Email/Play-by-Forum role-playing game based in 3075. Unfortunately, we will not be allowed to play as Armageddon Unlimited, rather we'll play as an off-shoot mercenary company known as Ignatova's Instigators. Although I have most of what I need to have set up tonight, done, I still have a rather lengthy process to complete before BTM will allow us to play there. If you would like to see what they're about for yourself, please visit http://www.battletech-mercenaries.com and, if you decide you would like to play in the Instigators, please make sure you read their entire web site? In truth, it's not that much to read, and there is valuable information to be had there.
Come join us and role-play your heart out!
091507 / '67: This morning, Colonel LightScout and I had a meeting where we decided, unanimously, that 'Scout should control the on-line BattleTech version of gaming as it pertains to the MechWarrior and/or Mech Commander games. I know for a fact he will do far better than I when it comes to running things on-line, though I will retain command of the role-playing portion, if there is to be one, for the unit. For anyone coming to play MechWarrior on-line with Armageddon Unlimited, your Commanding Officer is Jerry "LightScout" Stewart, and I (Kay "Gideon" Wolf) am the Executive Officer. Before you take any troubles to 'Scout, bring them to me or, better yet, make certain you follow the chain of command as established in the Operations Manual and the Command Staff Primer. Finally, if you come here to role-play, understand that I remain the unit Commander; if there is to be a role-playing portion to this unit, it will stay in the same time-line and I will attempt to run it along the same lines as our on-line endeavors, and I would be producing more material for the game as soon as possible.
091107 / '67: Yesterday evening, on reading yet another in a long line of mistakes being made by the developers of Inner Sphere Wars, involving trapping and paying ISW Points to release and return JumpShips to their rightful owners -when they should neither be trapped, or at least have a minimal chance of being captured- I decided it was time to remove AU from ISW altogether. I have removed my account to the best of my ability, set my email address so I won't receive messages, and in great disappointment am leaving ISW.
The following reasons, and I'm sure to update these as I think about them, are important to this decision...
- Everything in the game is done with Resource Points and/or ISW Points. In order to get ISW points, one must pay money; they call these donations, but the way in which these donations can be collected has gotten out of hand. The economy in use in the game is highly unrealistic and has nothing to do with the longevity of the game so much as developers lining their pockets, though they don't seem to have real support for it, and to fill the role every other league has filled since leagues went into development for MechWarrior II back in 1995.
- Certain 'Mechs have been developed for purchase and use by the ISW staff, and may only be bought with ISW points. These 'Mechs, typically, are very powerful and seriously unbalance the battlefield every time.
- ISW is using MechWarrior IV: Mercenaries and NetMech IV. Mercs has very serious problems that do not allow it to relate to BattleTech by any stretch of the imagination, except in names and general artwork only, even though Mercs is a damn site better than its' predecessors in the MechWarrior IV series. NetMech IV is also riddled with holes, such as every single 'Mech being outfitted with Ferro-Fibrous Armor, removing the advantage from 'Mechs that legitimately have it in accordance with Tech Readouts. Also, several of the normally accepted and more powerful weapons are wrong in their damage and range values, being underpowered, while some other weapons have much greater effect in the game than they should, placing the game in a lopsided manner for those who can achieve success in obtaining 'Mechs with those weapons, and whom have done their homework. Although ISW has expressed they intend to use Mercs only during beta-testing, to get the game done and released and then to switch to a different combat engine, it is my firm belief this is a mistake, should be switched over and tested prior to game release, and will result in chaos if it actually happens once the game is released.
- Movement in the game does not work on a remotely realistic, even if faster, version of JumpShip and DropShip travel, which allows unit commanders with a keen eye to move more ships farther faster than those not really paying attention, giving the former a greater, and unfair, advantage and ability to take worlds by cutting them off from their previous house supply lines, which was never used in BattleTech and is unrealistic in a 4-dimensional space environment. Cutting on-planet forces off from their supply lines by blockading that world is realistic and possible, but taking ten worlds by capturing a world generally central to those is ridiculous. Capturing JumpShips simply by blockading the world is also highly unrealistic and had no place in the lore unless it was planned over time.
- When construction of 'Mechs is so fast that the numbers bounce 3,000 chassis in a single month, there's something seriously wrong.
- The long and short of it is that the developers have almost entirely ignored how the BattleTech universe was built, with each individual chain in the universe (BattleMech production, JumpShip movement, economy, etc.) having its own true strategic advantages and disadvantages, and have taken it upon themselves to build a sham that actually requires more fixes than the original system would have, and this has brought a game that took a very long time to program wrongly to a point where it no longer resembles anything having to do with BattleTech. Any one combat engine could be adapted to this game interface, except anything having to do with any realistic representation of BattleTech.
Although it is well understood there will never be a true representation of BattleTech unless those that understand and love the universe, the lore, and know they cannot share the construction of the game with the general BattleTech community until it is ready for open beta testing, get ahold of it, Armageddon Unlimited will, carefully, play in a league or MMO that is a very close representation. Until that time, AU is a role-playing unit.
090807 / '67: Although this unit is proceeding very slowly due to new growing pains, we are still proceeding. For anyone interested in playing with a unit soon to be tested in the fires of whatever league(s) we will be playing in, please feel free to go to our Join Form and sign up. By October 15th we are hoping to be in a ready-op status and, if Inner Sphere Wars will allow us to participate as mercenaries again, that is where we will play. Check back on this page often for updates.
040307 / '67: Inner Sphere Wars announced on March 31st that one mercenary unit present within the House structures of each of the five Houses would be selected to aid in testing and playing with the new mercenary interface shortly. The full article may be seen at Attention all Merc COs. I am now rushing to complete this site as quickly as possible, the Join Form being my next project, so I may issue a general email recall of our previous MechWarriors so Armageddon Unlimited may, indeed, show itself as a formidable force in ISW.
In other news, LightScout and Panzer have already come back to Armageddon Unlimited and will be serving in capacities as the European Command Officer, the U.S.A. Command Officer, and Panzer has also agreed to serve as AU's Legal Affairs Officer. Welcome back, guys. The web site is coming along quite nicely, as well. The Current Roster, Contracting, and Awards pages are now as complete as they can be, and the NCO version of the Operations Manual is also as complete as it can be made for now.
031807 / '67: Armageddon Unlimited returned to Rochester for a one month period of repair and replenishment while preparing to move out on a new contract, something under the table for three-hundred-million C-Bills. Before AU could move out, however, a difference between the Black Edge elements within the Blood Wolves and Colonel Wolf sent the Black Edge packing, bitter enemies of Armageddon Unlimited now. One-third of the Black Edge, not in agreement with Kain, their leader, remained behind and maintained their own cell within the Blood Wolves as part of the Lone Wolves.
Unfortunately, the departure of Kain's Black Edge in 3065 began something of a snowball effect with the leadership of many of the remaining Blood Wolves units, leadership which had trained with and were loyal to, Slade Osis and Kain. A series of skirmishes between loyalists and members of the Armageddon Unlimited legitimate units on Rochester, something of a civil war, took shape in November 3065 and ended in February 3066 with Slade Osis and remaining Black Edge and Lone Wolves elements being spared their lives and exiled from the unit in the process. All loyalist personnel willing to go with them did and, by April 3066 all loyalist elements were gone and Armageddon Unlimited placed itself back into training cycles, using many of Kain's techniques in the process.
AU is presently, meaning the end of the FedCom Civil War, dealing with restructure opportunities which will, in the end, make the unit more accessible and attractive to potential employers looking to hire the unit, outsiders looking for a place to get their start, and it will bolster the ranks of the unit greatly in time. Until that happens, AU awaits a new contract fitting of the work of Knights on a battlefield of honor.
031507 / '67: Welcome back to the Armageddon Unlimited web site. I am Colonel Kay "Gideon" Wolf, the commanding officer of AU, and not only do I hope you'll find your stay to be pleasant here with us on Rochester, but I am hoping you'll help grow this unit again. We are in for some very hard work, but that is to be expected when you are destined to be the best. If you have any questions feel free to send an email to me.
While reading this news page, you will notice two dates at the head of each update section, separated by a slash; the date to the left is the real world date, and the other is the current in-game date, to the best of our knowledge, for Inner Sphere Wars. These dates will not always mesh with the truth of the game, since ISW does not, yet, seem to be on a time and date schedule; however, they will remain accurate for the unit as much as possible.

1019?? / '58: Everything has been updated on the Murlin Web Site. Four new warriors have been added: Krysalis, Seven20C, Fierymonster, and Nobleshogun; welcome them all.
The Peak Connection copy of the web site, barring problems with my ISP, will be back up by midnight tonight.
This last couple of weeks has been very difficult on me simply because things seem to get to me easier than they get to other folks, for the most part. All of you have been extraordinarily supportive, and for that I thank you. I am going to remain, basically, in command of the unit. It's just that the command staff is taking a lot of responsibility from my shoulders so I'm not taking so much time from my off-line family anymore, and for that I am supremely grateful.
I will be off-line for a few days, maybe even this next whole week, therefore, Lieutenant Crazywolf is in charge.
The calender has been removed because it doesn't seem to be doing anything for anyone as far as getting people to training and that means it won't be any use for battle calls. Therefore, pay attention to your email. If it says "BATTLE CALL..." or "OFFICIAL TRAINING..." in the header and is from ANY officer, it usually means that you are going to need to either attend or tell us why you cannot attend. As long as you tell your Lance Commander and they know, that's fine.
This unit has been restructured to make an Alpha Company and a Bravo Company; hopefully for the last time. This restructure only really affected MechWarrior 3 elements within the unit. Take a look below to see whom you now fall under:
| ALPHA COMPANY COMMAND LANCE |
ALPHA COMPANY ASSAULT LANCE |
ALPHA COMPANY RECON LANCE |
| Kay Wolf |
Crash |
CrazyWolf |

Get on training, folks! It's necessary.
We have one slot left in Bravo Company Recon Lance to be filled with the consolidation of the unit. This is the last time I ever want to restructure the unit again, but I know this restructure will happen again. Preferably a long way into the future. Anyway, once that last slot in Bravo Company Recon Lance is filled, new recruits will go into the Lance from whose member came to recruit them. That only happens with the first two members. After those new members fill out the roster for the Extended Lance, then further new members will fill in starting with Recon Lances, then Assault Lances, and finally Command Lances.
That's all for now folks. Remember, there is a mandatory 2 hour per week training session.
1009?? / '58: 3058 MaxTech is back up and running. I will be launching attacks tomorrow evening into Ghost Bear territory. Please be ready?
Say congratulations to Sergeant DRaGoN108 for his excellent contributions to the unit and undaunted willingness to battle.
A new page is going up on the basic part of the web site, viewable to all. this will list the honor you have attained within this unit by displaying your rank and awards. It is also there for you to see where you stand in the unit, if the unit were based on a ladder. Remember, I will promote and award those who earn it. You should all look at the Awards page to see who may recommend awards to other unit members.
Once a month, or at irregular intervals, there will be a Top-Gun Competition, to be hosted by the Training Cadre and 1st Lieutenant MagPez of HeadQuarters Lance. All members are encouraged to attend. The next tournament is due to begin on Sunday the 17th of October and run through the following Friday evening. Lieutenant MagPez will tally all results and then will announce the Top Gun winner or who will fight fort it. I will be participating this time around, but will not play on Saturday the 22nd due to the MechWarrior 3 Meltdown Tournament.
Now that the new automation is up in 3058 MaxTech there will be an announcement about getting the Mech Commander portion of the League going. It's very close, folks :-)
Starlance MechWarrior 3 is going planetary conquest by the beginning of November and you can bet we will be in the thick of it if I have anything to say about it.
0925?? / '58 Say congratulations to Staff Sergeant Boojum and Staff Sergeant Sir for their excellent contributions to the unit as well as the promotions they have received due to those contributions and hard work.
An awards system as been implemented for Armageddon Unlimited. If you look on the Roster Page between your name and your wing mate, you will see what kind of chest salad you are currently authorized to wear. The awards are not completed, yet, and as they are made for all of their various reasons the page will be updated. You can click on any award image to see it full size on the Awards HTML page.
The Rank Points have been upgraded. Warrant Officer Ranks have now been implemented, which makes it that much harder for Enlisted folks to become Officers and Officers to get rank quickly. If you had a rank most likely you kept it, unless you've been highly inactive, in which case rank in this unit won't matter to you when November 1st rolls around anyway. Click here for the skinny!
Once a month, or at irregular intervals, there will be a Top-Gun Competition, to be hosted by the Training Cadre and 1st Lieutenant MagPez of HeadQuarters Lance. All members are encouraged to attend.
Lance and Company Commanders, please take a look at your current TO&E. All of you should have open slots which you are capable of filling. Know this now, all new members will start in the same lance they are recruited for, but will start in Bravo Company instead of Alpha Company until they prove themselves to be eager and ready to wrok for the unit.
The rules are completed for Mech Commander and the site is all but completed for MaxTech 3058. We should be rockin' and rollin' soon. If you are a Mech Commander player, and wish to play Mech Commander for Armageddon Unlimited, and your leagues/games list on the Roster does not include Mech Commander for either SL or MaxTech, email me, please?
A new patch has been released by Zipper that did everything it was touted to do as far as I know. I have yet to get into a battle with more than 2 people where the patch is concerned.
Sign up for this contest begins on October 8th. Marching orders for battles to take place for the Inner Sphere on the 23rd of October, and for the Clans on the 24th. To that end I recommend training for it as much as possible over the next four weeks. All Armageddon Unlimited individualswho wish to participate, you are authorized severance from the unit's main activities until the contest ends.
0919?? / '58: The rules for the MaxTech 3058 League have been seriously modified. Go here for the highlights.
AU has joined the Starlance League greatly at the behest of one of her admins who also happens to be this units XO. If he trusts them, then I will follow until that trust is proven otherwise. Folks, two things... don't cheat, and mod by the rules. We are going into the Mech Commander side of the Starlance House, and all of you are welcome to join. If you join either for MechWarrior 3 or Mech Commander, please inform me?
For the time being please place recruitment on hold until we can week out some of the folks who want their names in lights on the page but don't want anything else to do with the unit?
The rules for Mech Commander have been approved by the League Admin. He has no real set time table to get things started but it will be at least the end of this next week before things actually do start. Then it will be 2 weeks worth of setup operations, and then play should begin! I know all of you have been waiting a long time for this, but once it starts it should be great.
Since I have been the sole proprietor of the MaxTech Mech Commander League the work has gone slowly, and with no help from anyone outside AU in the League it has become increasingly difficult to make decisions I have to believe everyone would like or at least be able to get along with. Therefore, the MaxTech MC League will take a little longer. The site for hosting it is almost finished, and I have a few touches yet for the rules, and then hopefully we can get started.
With regards to Mech Commander gold, which came out September 3rd, the rules concerning that expansion pack will go into effect as problems are found and will not hamper play in the League. I would encourage all Mech Commander players to get a copy of Gold because it rocks and MCG Online is a completely different game from MC Online. Other than sharing files between the two games, they have no other similarities in programming.
A new patch may be released whenever Zipper feels like it. Theories and rumors are that this patch will actually take care of the lag problems which plague players by exponentiall increasing for each player added. Also, a couple of weapons will be "re-fixed", and 2 new multiplayer maps are supposed to be released with it. Unfortunately, since the patch did not come out when it was supposed to, I suspect that Zipper is not going to complete it.
All Leagues are suffering from a terrible level of inactivity at present concerning MW3 and it doesn't seem as though it will improve anytime soon. It may be that MW3 will go the way of Mercenaries faster than the first MechWarrior 2 sequel did itself.
With regards to the MechWarrior 3 Expansion Pack, projected to be due out in December, I understand a lot of fixes will be done and a lot of new maps are to be added. More on this as news comes up about it.
Marchins orders for battles by all the various individuals who sign up should be prepared for October 22nd, with battles to take place for the Inner Sphere on the 23rd of October, and for the Clans on the 24th. To that end I recommend training for it as much as possible over the next four weeks.
Lieutenant MagPez of HeadQuarters Lance, soon to be Redesignated Gunslinger HQ, has built a semi-training/hardcore competition to take place starting tomorrow. All AU members are highly encouraged to participate, and the minimum for qualifying participation is 5 battles fought against members of your own Company. Next Sunday when all the scores are tallied the top MechWarrior from Alpha and Bravo Company will fight against one another. whoever wins that match will be labeled Top Dog. Participate folks, we need you all in the unit, period!!!
0828?? / '58: The new rules are out for the MaxTech 3058 League, and here are the highlights:
- Modding: A huge debate is going on about whether we should stick with stocks or allow customs. So far, the debate is still swinging towards customs. If you want to throw in your two cents worth, go here!
- Mission types have been changed to include some more specific objectives. For instance, recon missions are now races to the finish. If you want to see the rules for yourself to know what the other objectives are, go here!
That's basically the biggest things that happened aside from small changes here and there in the rules.
If you have the inclination to begin recruiting for the unit, specifically for your Company, the please do so. Currently, HeadQuarters Lance is 2 members shy of full; Alpha Company 4 members shy; Bravo Company 3 members shy; and Charlie Company also 3 Members shy. Of the Tri-Coms for Mech Commander: 2, 3, and 4 are each shy members, totaling 4.

With regards to Mech Commander Gold, due out September 1st, the rules concerning that expansion pack will go into effect as psoblems are found and will not hamper play in the League. I would encourage all Mech Commander players to get a copy of Gold because I'm not sure how compatibility will work if you're playing online against someone with Mech Commander Gold and you do not have it. If past experience tells us anything, the games will not be compatible online.
A new patch should be released by mid-September. Theories and rumors are that this patch will actually take care of the lag problems which plague players by exponentially increasing for each player added. Also, a couple of weapons will be "re-fixed", and 2 new multiplayer maps are supposed to be released with it.
With regards to the MechWarrior 3 Expansion Pack, projected to be due out in December, I understand a lot of fixes will be done and a lot of new maps are to be added. More on this as news comes up about it.
I sent email to everyone last night concerning this sweepstakes. It would be really nice if a lot of the current members of AU got involved. It would show the dedication I already know you have for the unit. Anyway, if you want to see the rules, regulations, prizes, and some more specifics than I can offer here, go here
0824?? / '58: The new web site area will be up soon and completely active at Crash and Burn's ISP. They run it, so the page should be up all the time unless something catastrophic happens. But then, that's true with any machine and has no bearing on her operators. Anyway, the new site location is HTTP://murlin.murlin.com/AU/index.htm. The old site will remain active until all links have been transfered over.
I have been asked to help write the rules, story, and other various things, for MaxTech 3058s Mech Commander League. I will do this as quickly as possible, but it may not be that fast.
I have asked for orders concerning AUs movements against the Ghost Bears, but I will be sending actions of my own also. We have a large budget to work with right now, and it could get larger for each objective we achieve outside our normal contract.

****< < < INCOMING TRANSMISSION FROM COLONEL WOLF TO ARMAGEDDON UNLIMITED 'MECHWARRIORS > > >****
PLEASE ENTER ACCESS CODE:
SECURITY VERIFIED! MESSAGE PROCEEDING IN: 4...3...2...1
Greetings Armageddon Unlimited MechWarriors and Mech Commanders,
Tonight we start a new contract working with the Draconis Combine. We are traveling into the Draconis Combines Benjamin Military District bordering the Free Rasalhague Republic and Clan Ghost Bear's Occupation Zone. Historically Armageddon Unlimited, nor any of her predecessors, have worked for the Draconis Combine; tonight that changes.
In a display of force second to none we will drop onto the world of Pilkhua as though we were dropping for a combat assault on the planet. Instead, we will work by the numbers to deploy both from high and low altitude the first few battalions so that a landing zone for Draconis dropships we will be travelling in can be deployed safely. Once on the ground, the rest of our 3 regiments will deploy across all five primary zones of Pilkhua, with the 1st Wolf Assault Regiment deploying to what is termed Zone 9 so actions may be taken to harass the Ghost Bears at a later date.
Good luck, warriors. Stay vigilant!
-Colonel Kay Wolf, Armageddon Unlimited, Commanding
"Annihilation Through Superior Firepower!"

0816?? / '58: (As quoted from Lineage.htm)
"Kay finally won a Lance command in early 3057 when the new lance was built, and he proved to be an extraordinarily good commander. In mid-3057 Commander Freeley accepted a contract to depose a renegade mercenary group named the Fist of Mokal from two worlds in the Chaos March; Capolla and Carver V. During a minor skirmish on Capolla in January of 3058, Commander Michael Freeley's Marauder was destroyed, severely wounding and dispossessing him. Under Commander Jacob Haversham's command, Shadow Blade became redesignated Armageddon Unlimited and were hired by the Draconis Combine to perform work against the Ghost Bear Occupation Zone. Kay was given command of Armageddon Unlimited on the journey to their hired garrison destination in Kurita-space via Rochester by Stephanie Wolf's request.
During the half year long journey to Rochester Kay was trained by Commander Haversham in the proper use and negotiation of contracts, to include some unorthodox strategies for getting what was best for the unit. Kay soaked every last piece of information up and by the time Rochester was reached Kay had taken hold of his father's and grandfather's tenacity for business."
The events above actually happened in the BattleTech Universe and make it a perfect start for us in the 3058 MaxTech League.
We have a contract with the Draconis Combine currently. What comes of that is up to you!!! :-)
0812?? / '58: The MechWarrior 3 section of Armageddon Unlimited is online. We have a contract feeler out right now so we can be scouted. Those of you who have been participating and shown extreme dedication to the unit, I commend you your efforts and thank you for your contributions. See the 'Mech list below for what we have available currently.
I have asked one of our newest members, Panzer-Shrek, to make a database that will automatically update when 'Mech losses, salvage, and wins are entered by one of your Lance Commanders. I have requested that this list be made so "reservations" can be placed upon these 'Mechs based on first come first-served basis.
'Mech Commanders, don't worry, our time will be soon! The 3058 Head Admin has begun work on the Mech Commander section for his League, which may very well be up before The Cobra League gets it together over there. They have a really great set of rules for Mech Commander play, but they aren't doing anything apparent to get the League up and running.
I am going to make a request to the Federated Commonwealths current ruler that Rochester be made the official home for Armageddon Unlimited in the MaxTech 3058 League, as it is the historical home for AU in the first palce.

0810?? / '58: If you have Kali or want and/or are willing to get Kali, it would be greatly appreciated. In the MaxTech 3058 League, even though it says play is both on Kali and in the Zone, I have been told most battles take place in Kali. I will do my level best to schedule a game in Heat.net, The Zone, and lastly Kali. However, if we are forced to play in Kali I will need as many of you there as possible. It's $20.00 for a lifetime membership, so it's not really that bad.
Due to irreconcilable differences Armageddon Unlimited is leaving both the Astral-Dominion Mech Commander League and the Steel Command Mech Commander League. If you really want to know the whole story, ask me! These Leagues are begin replaced by the MaxTech 3058 League and the Cobra 'Mech Commander League.
Waco Rangers 'Mech Commander unit is officially dissolved and integrated into the command structure of Armageddon Unlimited. The only change you 'Mech Commanders should notice is that your rank image has changed. Effective immediately, all 'Mech Commanders are 2nd Lieutenant or above.
Sergeant Major Spike is being summarily appointed the position of Captain within Armageddon Unlimited to facilitate his role as Executive Officer of the 'Mech Commander sectin of Armageddon Unlimited. He will remain the primary unit trainer for both the MechWarrior 3 and Mech Commander sections.
There have been a lot of promotions of late, 5 over the last 2 weeks in fact. That's great, everyone keep up the good work.
